Four talented alien musicians are abducted by a record producer who disguises them as humans and reprograms them to forget their true identities and play soulless corporate pop as The Crescendolls. At one point, a soccer match is shown on a monitor; the teams playing are Japan and France. The two collaborators, Daft Punk and Leiji Matsumoto, are French and Japanese respectively. The score, 2 for France and 1 for Japan, indicates how many came from which countries. The number of strings on the various instruments is incorrect. Edited from Daft Punk: Aerodynamic (2001). This movie is magical, the soundtrack is wonderful, you feel like you are being lifted into the air like you are “aerodynamic”. The story may seem pretty simple, basically it is a “digital love story” where the hero has to be “harder, better, faster, stronger” to save the woman of his dreams and her music band (the “Crescendolls”) from an evil record producer. The animation by Leiji Matsumoto is just so beautiful; for example, the “night view” you get of the city on Earth (probably inspired by Tokyo) is breathtaking. But the real “superheroes” The main characters of this film are Daft Punk. These guys understood that good music can lead to a “high life”. They know how to move us and reveal “something about us”. Let them take you on this space journey, whether you are traveling on the shuttle “Voyager” or not, you will find it “veridis quo”. It’s a “short circuit” (only 68 minutes, the length of the album “Discovery”), but at the end, when you come “face to face” with yourself, you can only feel like you want more, like it could never have been “too long”.
